And here the story goes. Once upon a time there was a really fat man. He looked in the mirror and said to himself: “Do I really love myself?” Hmmm, some folks might have different points of views, but usually the chicks out there don’t like fat men. They prefer the bodybuilder type of men or the Richard Gere’s of the world. Also some girls might be afraid to hook up with someone overweight, because they think they would probably copy his eating habits. Eating lots of chocolate, candy or fast food.

Another thing is, typically being fat is seen as a reflection of someone’s state of mind or general attitude. Fat men let themselves go, these people lack self-control, right?

So what is ‘Mr. Fat’ thinking when he looks at himself in the mirror? Does he like what he sees? Can he wholeheartedly say: “I love me!” or does he recognize that he is lying to himself, pretending to be happy while he isn’t for real?

If you ask a girl to envision a sexual encounter with an obese man, you will most likely get an answer like: “Oh my god, I am wondering if he can still see his wiener LOL!”.

However, the fat man who loves himself is rare, but he does exist. He enjoys being bulky and eating candy. He enjoys food, and sleep more than anything else. Some cultures respect pure body mass as something desirable and men and women are aiming to become the “fattest guy in town”. That being said, I admit I am happy I’m not part of one of these cultures. Bring on the beer! Cheers!

RIP - Joe Frazier. Dead at 67.

Joe Frazier died at the age of 67 at his home in Philadelphia. He was the former heavyweight champion. He was just diagnosed a month ago with liver cancer.

His family was with him when he passed away.

Joe Frazier was famous for fighting Muhammad Ali 3 times in the 70s. He won in 1971 and fought him the last time in a legendary battle – the “Thrilla in Manilla”.

Pete Seeger, New York "Occupy Wall Street"

It all started a month ago with a small group of people but has now grown a lot bigger. The protestors are protesting social and economic inequality. With their slogan, “We are the 99%” they are bent on making sure that greed especially corporate greed is dealt with accordingly. They were joined by the 92 year old Pete Seeger as they marched over 30 blocks from the Symphony Space to Columbus Circle. They walked and chanted “We are the 99 per cent” and “We are unstoppable, another world is possible.”

Pete Seeger, together with Tao Rodriguez Seeger, composer David Amram and bluesman Guy Davis shouted, sang and chanted with the crowd of about 1,000 people. While in the circle, the ninety two year old with his friends were joined by Arlo Guthrie a 60s folk singer, where they sung “we shall overcome”, a protest anthem made popular by Pete Seeger.

By the look of things the crowd will keep on growing and growing. Though this is all for a worthy cause, many occupants in the area say that the crowd should relocate. This is mainly because of public urinating and noise in the middle of the night. This is for sure a reason not to be happy with the crowd, but the crowd is not about to move. We are bound to see the crowd on Wall Street get a lot bigger.

This surely means a lot for the politics of the country. The demonstrations are not only taking place in New York’s Zuccotti Park, they are also happening in other U.S cities such as Boston, Los Angeles and Chicago. To be quite honest, politicians are really confused about the whole Occupy Wall Street movement. The point that is clearly being made by the protests is that people are really frustrated with the riling economic situation. With democrats supporting the cause of the Occupy Wall Street movement, it is best that they do not co-opt the movement. If they do so, they will make things worse for themselves. The big question that is on every politicians mind at this point is whether the movement will have any long lasting political consequences. All we can do right now is just to wait and see.

As for my personal opinion on the cause and how far the protests will go, all I can say is that politicians should be ware. With the election date closing in fast, these demonstrations will go a long way in changing the outcome in the 2012 elections. One thing that you can be sure will happen is that the election results will be largely influenced by the protests that are currently going on.

It is with this movement that maybe we will see changes in just how the economy shapes up. Our future may be changing in new and amazing ways. All we can do for now is hope and pray that our economy changes only for the best. For now, we can only be sure that Pete Seeger’s protest anthem; “we shall overcome” will continue attracting more and more supporters.

Muammar Gaddafi

There is no good that we can really remember about the Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi. What many like me want to do is to forget the BS that he has been serving to the world. It is about time we saw him fall, thanks to rebels and some outside intervention the world especially Libya is free off his sinister rule. He was caught in a cross fire in his Sirte stronghold. He had been on the run for quite a long time after he was chased by rebels out of Tripoli with the help of the NATO bombers of course. By the looks of things, he died a pretty miserable death.

He had been in power for forty two good years. When it comes to death, not so many people are usually up in celebration, but not in this case. The one thing that this revelation has brought to many parts of the world is celebration. This is what many like me have been expecting for a really long time. The great thing about it all is that the world and specifically Libya is free from his rule forever.

I think we should really look at his history and his background, but on second thought, I think we should really look at the really interesting stuff; his death. He has been responsible for many deaths not only in Libya but also for the deaths of other individuals of other nationalities. Being in power for a whole forty two years, he is the longest serving president in Africa and also the longest serving leader in the Arab world. After seizing power from the King Idris in a bloodless coup at the young age of twenty seven, you can be sure that this dictator knows a thing or two about clinging onto power and this is exactly what he did. He had been clinging onto power for a really long time despite the sanctions and unrest that had rocked his country. Thanks to the valiant efforts of the rebels, finally the whole world has a reason to smile; one more tyrant gone.

On quite a different note, I think that there are a few things that I will remember about the dictator, now don’t think of me as a Muammar Gaddafi supporter or anything, but I have to admit that I really will live to remember his beautiful gun totting body guards, but that’s just about it. Which gets me thinking; if I ever think of getting into politics, I’m getting myself some beautiful body guards. I can’t wait for that day.

We can only wait and see what this development means for the great country that is Libya and for the rest of the world. With the right measures, we will be seeing a better Libya than the tarnished image that has been left by the dictator Muammar Gaddafi. A new nation is surely on the rise, we can just hope that the steps will be directed in the right direction.

What would you do with six million dollars? Buy a Bugatti Veyron or two? Or would you buy a home? A home sounds like a pretty good idea. This is what thirty nine years old, Chris Tucker did. He bought his 1000 square foot waterfront home on Lake Apopka. With a home that clocks up a monthly mortgage payment of over twenty five thousand dollars, you do not expect to have so much to smile about, unless you’re a billionaire. He is facing foreclosure on his home. He owes 4.4 million dollars to SunTrust Bank after falling behind with paying his fees over a couple of years.

The expensive house for sure has a lot to offer, let’s take a look at what amenities the house has. The one thing that you already know is that the house is already huge and quite beautiful. It has a basement designed as a pirate ship. Yes, it has a wooden deck, a mast and even a sail. You surely would not resist living in such a beautiful house. It then has a personal spa, all the massages that come with it and the relaxing moments; this must have drawn him to the house, it sure does it for me. The amenities keep getting better; the house has a pool which is overlooked by an outdoor kitchen. Pause for a moment and picture that right there. This is just the dream house for anyone out there, I’m sure you would also love all that this house has to offer. In this case however, the amenities are causing the Rush Hour star a huge headache.

So what options does he have, the first thing that he should really consider doing is to file for bankruptcy and the next thing that he has to do is to file for bankruptcy if he wants to have a home to speak of. It is quite clear that he doesn’t have a lot of options. Though filing for bankruptcy will be quite embarrassing on his side, he really needs to do it for him to save his property. With a good lawyer, he just might be declared bankrupt and the time frame within which he should repay the amount might be extended or if he is lucky he might see the amount reduced.

If you were in his shoes then you would surely wish yourself out that sticky situation. Let’s just hope that he has something up his sleeve that will go a long way in seeing him retain his house. When it comes to my personal opinion on the whole thing, though I really like his work, I must say that this was really not a wise move. With such a house, you really need a great back up plan for you to be able to adequately cater for a house that has a monthly mortgage fee of over twenty five thousand dollars. I wouldn’t like to be him right now.

Will "The Avengers" be the greatest movie of all time?

Today we saw the debut of the highly anticipated trailer to the movie; ‘The Avengers’. One thing that has kept many fans like me looking forward to this trailer is that this will be the first time that we will see the heroes and heroines of the Marvels films come together in one blockbuster movie. If you ask me this is just genius. I must admit that this was really a smart move by the Marvels film team. This is because there is no other film production that has actually tried to do this; Marvels film firs presented us with movies on the individual heroes and now they are taking it to a whole different level by bringing the heroes together in one film. This has seen many identify with the individual heroes first and seeing the heroes together just makes things a lot more interesting. This leaves you guessing of how the interactions between the different characters will be like. The trailer promises that the movie will have a lot for us to look out for.

“The Avengers” trailer hints out that the heroes are brought together by S.H.I.E.L.D’s Nick Furry to help save the world that is under threat from Loki: The god of mischief. The marvel hero team that is brought together is comprised of the Hulk, Iron man, Thor and Captain America. The great thing about it all is that the different heroes have a great fan base and therefore the ground work has already been laid.

When we take a look at Iron Man, the question that comes to mind is; ‘who doesn’t like him?’ Then with The hulk, now played by Mark Ruffalo; we can only wait and see how well he will work with the rest of the super hero team to save the world despite his anger management issues. With Thor, the crowd gets a lot bigger; being associated with thunder, storms and lightning and out of this world strength, we will be waiting to see what his trade mark hammer will land on this time. Captain America, another marvel hero will be sure to wow the fans with his super strength. In this particular blockbuster, though the heroes are linking up, they are not doing so because there is a marvel villain team. This is quite sad because I would love to see the marvel villains teaming up. I’m sure this would give the heroes quite a big headache, but maybe marvel films is cooking up something that will see the villains linking up. Before I forget, the lovely Scarlett Johansen is in action. She plays Natasha Romanoff, a highly trained spy who works for S.H.I.E.D. We can be sure to expect a badass display from her.

With the kind of heroes that will be on set, we can only expect a massive applaud from the fans. The fact that marvel film brings together some of its heroes for one reason; to save the earth, we can only wait to see more of the film next year. Yes, we have to wait for a long, long time before we can actually set eyes on this masterpiece. Until May 4th 2012, we’ll just have to settle for this teaser of a trailer.

Amy Winehouse died at a young age.

They have everything- fame, money and power and yet there is one thing that’s likely to elude them- ‘natural death’. This is not my statement; this is what history tells us and the present affirms. From Princess Diana, John Lenon, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain to more recent deaths of Heath Ledger, Michael Jackson and Amy Winehouse, the world has witnessed countless extraordinary talents succumbing to premature deaths. Rest of us can just wonder or give our condolences but what these incidents essentially reveal to us is that fame comes at a price. A very gory price to pay indeed!

From the rear end of the fame game, we are likely to wonder why. What can they possibly be missing from a life that the entire world envies to succumb to such dark ends? It’s a reasonable question to ask considering the fact that apart from few unfortunate accidents, a majority of these tragedies are self-inflicted. It can be drug overdose, excessive drinking, excessive bleeding or a fatal shot but why, we are left wondering, do their seemingly perfect lives meet such tragic ends?

The answer to the public dismay on a number of such tragedies is often left to speculation and rumors. Of course, there is bound to be some level of mystery surrounding such events even when the causes are obvious. Conspiracy theories and fanatic exaggerations are usually associated with such tragedies giving rise to some intriguing urban legends. On the other end of these fantasies however, lie the harsh realities of these tragic consequences. With few exceptions, like the apparently needless murder of John Lenon or the mysterious car crash of Princess Diana, these tragedies may not be as sudden and unexpected as we usually imagine them to be. More often than not, they are in fact the inevitable outcomes of a series of lifestyle choices that celebrities find themselves prone to at the height of their career.

Fame is a complicated thing to handle. As helpless spectators, we just see the flying colors in stage and the grand receptions. What we fail to realize is that beneath the colorful décor of fame, our celebrities are in fact perfectly normal human beings prone to every ordinary temptations of life as we all are. As mentioned earlier, fame comes at a price. A wise person once declared that ‘a true artist is ultimately engulfed by his own art.’ At the epic of their art, numerous artist struggle to grasp the essence of their accomplishments and often get lost in the world they had created with their artistic brilliance. But not every temptation is necessarily as profound as this artistic dilemma. Some artists find themselves enslaved to addictive measures in a desperate attempt to retain the virtual paradise of grandeur creeping inside their head with increasing fame. Fame can be a hard thing to earn but equally challenging is to escape its enslavement. Beware! The life of a celebrity is not technically healthy for everybody.

Lying for sex is a common practice amongst men.

Times have changed; we are over the Shakespearean period now but are we really over our old habits? How often do you lie in love? How often do you find yourself tweaking your identity for sex?

Modernization has also seen a drastic change in our notions of love and sex. We are much closer to our primal instincts now. So, love is not necessarily an utter sense of devotion to each other but more of a mutual understanding and acceptance. Likewise, sex is no more the elusive consequence of a complicated set of expressions but a straightforward matter of mutual consent. This doesn’t mean that getting into an intimate relation with someone is effortless now; a considerable effort of ‘wooing’ on your part may still be necessary. It’s just that we are now open to more options and shortcuts to satisfy our sexual needs. And these shortcuts often involve us assorting to a range of lies.

Nonetheless, deploying one of your ‘harmless lies’ has indeed become more harmless, at least for a few night outs. Having stated the obvious, let’s go back to our Shakespearean lovers. One of them actually knows that the other is lying and yet has accepted the fact with perhaps a nip in his heart but nothing more. Well, pardon me for calling it a ‘surge of your hormones’ when you might have preferred something more graceful like ‘selfish love’, we do tend ignore a few lies from the other side ourselves when a more urgent need is at play.

Entwined in messy lies, is our world of love and relationship getting mechanical or unethical? Are the persons you had dated or will date nothing more than flimsy mask of ‘harmless’ lies? Well, let’s not get so dramatic. Lies can be convenient or harmless to start with but ultimately, no one can hide forever. You may start off a romance with a lie but you shall be the one to face the consequences. It’s always safe to be truthful but you can surely make some adjustments for the ‘bigger picture’. You may not have as extensive a vocabulary of ‘harmless lies’ as Tiger Woods himself but you do have your fair share.

From books to movies, video games, accessories and theme parks, the name ‘Harry Potter’ is a brand in itself. Recently, the world witnessed an epic ending of this wizardry craze when the second installment of the final book was released worldwide. Notwithstanding the fact that the movie ended up being the third highest grossing movie of all time, Potter fans are not exactly in mood for a success party with a harsh reality looming before them. Is this the end of the extraordinary adventure of Harry Potter?

It’s very hard not to become a fan of this fantasy. It’s equally hard and also bewildering to imagine that such vivid details of an extremely complicated world of virtual reality can be contained inside a single head.  J.K. Rowling’s unique depiction of the usual and often overused struggle of good vs. evil is truly an extraordinary feat. The world of Harry Potter has everything that an ordinary reader or audience can relate with, but of course with some magical touches. This astonishing blend of reality and fiction is what makes Harry Potter simply irresistible. She may have her fair share of critics who question her literary genius but nobody can possibly deny the worldwide impact of Potter’s spells.

When plans for the first Harry Potter movie were unveiled, literary fans were initially doubtful of the consequences. However, Potter’s venture into the world of motion pictures ended up getting an overwhelming reception all over the world. Subsequently more movies were released and none disappointed the fans and critics. Where cinematic depictions of some other literary classics are often criticized for injustice to the original materials, Harry Potter movies actually reversed the trend. With an excellent cast spearheaded by Daniel Radcliffe as the unassuming protagonist, aided by his loyal friend Hermione Gringer (Emma Watson) and Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint), the movies not only proved to be critical and commercial success but further intensified the craze for this literary masterpiece. Many consider the Harry Potter series as worthy competitor to the cinematic classics like ‘The Lord of the Rings- Trilogy’, based on J.J.R. Tolkien’s literary masterpiece.

But now that the literary and cinematic milestones have been created and celebrated, it’s probably time to say goodbye to an unforgettable adventure of bravery and friendship. This is going to harsh on fans and writer alike. Though the character of Harry will remain in the bookshelf forever and remembered as the boy who lived, it will be interesting for us to see how actors like Daniel Radcliffe and J.K. Rowling herself will adapt to a world outside the grandeur of Potter wizardry.
